Dogs have been a huge part of my life. Sam, was the beautiful German Shepherd who was like a big brother to me for the first 12 years of my life. I love the bond there is between a dog and their owner. They are family, and the most trusted companions.
I come from the small town of Somerset Dam just west of Brisbane which, when I was growing up, had a population of around a hundred people. I spent plenty of time in the bush, mountains, caves and creeks that are abundant in this beautiful valley of the lakes, all of which I enjoyed with my dogs and other animals. Being young, and many a time somewhat isolated, I saw how dogs depend on you as much as we on them, in many aspects of life. I loved growing up in a small country town and am now equally as lucky to be opening The K9 Centre Gold Coast South with access to beautiful beaches, waterways, parks, facilities and weather, which will all be my office. The outdoor lifestyle always seems to suit me.
I have done many things in my life, from live water ski and stunt shows, to films, as well as being a commercial boat skipper, having driven parasailing boats on the Gold Coast’s Broadwater for several years. I have been fortunate in that many recreational sporting and fun skills I have learned, I have been able to develop into a career, be it jet skiing, water skiing, wake boarding etc.
This has allowed me to travel the world, and see amazing places. I lived throughout Asia (Japan, Singapore) for more than 5 years, and met many wonderful people. I see The K9 Centre as a new opportunity to develop one of these skills that I have enjoyed my whole life as a dog owner. Motivation to pursue activities you enjoy lead to success, and I wish to continue this in the dog training industry.
So I have come home from overseas to work and enjoy life, because I’ve found not much can compare to the warm greeting and unwavering affection that I get from my dog when I come home.
I want other people to have this, and having been able to work and learn from Martin and the K9 Centre, I believe this to be the greatest opportunity, and facility, for me to be able to help others achieve their goals with their dogs. This is a dream come true for me, and with patience and commitment anyone can have that special bond that I have shared with my dogs.
