Hi Alan,
Thanks so much for your help with the puppies they are going great! I have attached a picture of them also. Hope your having a great new year!
We first met Alan back in September. We where in desperate need of help with our two puppies. Lily a 38kg Ridgeback X and Tonna a 30kg Bull Mastif. They where a night mare to take outside the home. Now since Alan has shown us The K9 Centre Calm Smart Method our skills in keeping our puppies calm and under control outside the house is vastly improving!
We found Alan to be very knowledgable and professional in what his dog training. If we had a question he had the answer. If we where having trouble with any stage in our training he is always there to help and give advice.
We highly recommend to anyone that is having trouble with their dogs to trust on Alan to get te answer.

Hi Paul,
We would like to thank you for your wisdom in helping us train our dog, Wolf. When I first called, Wolf had a number of behavioral issues including; pulling on the lead, escaping the yard, growling and biting, jumping on visitors and the inability to relax. Thanks to your advice, and your calm pressure techniques, we are glad to say that Wolf is now a much calmer dog, who is more enjoyable to have in the home and around our friends. Wolf still has a little way to go but we endeavor to continue the training you have helped us with and he is definitely on the way.

Calm pressure is a lifesaver and works instantly! Thanks Karhl and K9
Hi Karhl
I just wanted to give you an update on Shelby my chocolate lab. When you first met her she was over excited, unruly and definitely thought she was the leader of the pack. She used to jump and pull on the lead. Taking her for a walk was a nightmare. I could only make it to the top of the street before getting frustrated and taking her home.
Thanks to your calm and patient manner and simple techniques, Shelby today is the total opposite. Calm pressure is a lifesaver and works instantly. I also recommend crate training to anyone with an over excited dog. Thank you for convincing me to try it. Shelby has a safe place to sleep and a place to chill during the day. As a result she is a lot calmer. She no longer jumps and I can take her for a walk without worrying about her lunging at other dogs. I
was even confident enough to take her on a dog-a-thon with a hundred other dogs.
Thanks again Karhl you are not only a dog trainer but a people trainer tooThanks for remaining calm and patient even when I didn’t. I now have a dog that respects me and is a joy to be around. While we still have a ways to go you
have given me the tools I need for a well trained dog. I will not hesitate in recommending you and The K9 Centre to everyone I know.
Thank you!
Ashlea and Shelby.

Awesome :) Thank you to the K9 Centre… I really enjoyed my training!
Paul…thank you so much for the training you recently did with our HUGE dog Bentley, he was quite a handful!! He was jumping up, chewing everything and a little hard to manage, couldnt even take him to the park at one stage. When Bentley came back from a 10 day training course we couldnt believe it was the same dog We felt so comfortable with him in your hands. The time you gave Bentley and the attention to detail was second to none. We are now looking forward to training Bentley in our own home and equally looking forward to the K9 Home Smart Programme. Thank you also for your ongoing support and advice. We are truly thankful…AMAZING Paul!!

Hi Karhl … below is some feedback and a photo of muttley for the website. Thanks : )
You can take the dog out of the street …But can you take the street out of the dog?
It seems so after our training sessions with Karhl. Sybil, the kelpie-cross and I have had an ‘on and off’ relationship for eight years. ‘On’ being when she’s giving me doe-eyes in the living room being a sweet-heart, ‘off’ being every time we went for a walk. Sybil and I got together one day at the RSPCA over $185 and a face I couldn’t say no to. She was a stray and on getting her home I found she had the stray traits of eating everything and anything without chewing or stopping to breath and being an absolute menace to take for a walk. Pulling, jumping at other dogs, lunging at tall men with boots?
After eight years and several failed attempts to train the ‘black devil’ I tried The K9 Center and Karhl arrived with no treats, no chokers just some excellent training techniques. After the first lesson we saw results and the second lesson we had her walking past another dog without blinking an eye. Karhl is fantastic, Sybil stopped and ‘listened’ to him like some kind of wonder dog from a Chum commercial.
We’re still making progress … it won’t happen overnight, but each walk we’re getting better as it’s not just Sybil who needs reconditioning after eight harrowing years of ‘walking nightmares’. If you have a problem dog who you think is beyond help give these guys a go. Having a dog who you can just take on a walk without a huge drama is
so great … it’s a pity I didn’t find The K9 Centre the day I took that RSPCA special home!

My husband and I adopted an 8 year old stafy cross bull terrier from the pound in March 2011. He was a lovely dog, however he needed some help when it came to going on walks and listening at the dog park (caused from abuse growing up). We also have a Jack Russel for a few months as we are doggy sitting and he was in need of some training as well. We thought it would be best to have Karhl from The K9 Centre do the home training with us. We decided on this so that we could learn how to do the training when the sessions were over and have the confidence in our training abilities.
Right from the beginning we appreciated Karhl’s form of training, without treats as the Jack Russel needed to lose some weight! During the weeks of training we learned how it was more about training us first and then the dogs. We were able to use the techniques Karhl taught us to assist the dogs in wanting to obey us, listening to us, and responding to us.
Karhl is a very friendly and patient trainer. We found that the lessons were practical, fun and encouraging. The dogs responded well to him and he was most helpful by calling to see how the training was going between lessons.
During the lessons Karhl used his dogs to assist with training and he had many other tools with him to make the training more effective. He also told us that we could call him if we had any further questions once our training was finished.
We have had many people comment on how much both of the dogs have changed in their behaviour and how well they listen. We would definitely recommend The K9 Centre and Karhl to anyone, as we can now take the dogs for afternoon walks instead of them walking us! Plus, we now have this training knowledge to use in the future as we would love to have more dogs around!

Crazy, Erratic and Hyper!
This is how we used to describe our 2 year old Border Collie (Cleo) before Karhl came into our lives. Shadow chasing, pulling on the lead and jumping up on people were Cleo’s specialities. According to Cleo anything that moved needed to be pounced on.
We exercised Cleo twice a day in a bid to tire her out but she was like the energizer bunny…she just kept going and going. I called Karhl to explain our dilemma and he advised that we were physically tiring her out but not mentally. Karhl advised he had worked with many Border Collies with great results and we booked in our first lesson straight away. Within minutes of arriving at our house Karhl had managed to capture Cleo’s attention and we noticed a change in her demeanour almost instantly. After one week of using Karhl’s techniques Cleo became a different dog. Taking her for a walk actually became a pleasure rather than a chore. I never thought I would be able to say this but Cleo does not even need a lead anymore.
She now sits, drops, and stays on voice command alone. Karhl was a pleasure to work with. He was calm and answered every question we ever had. We often say we wish we knew what we know now when Cleo was a puppy. If we now had to describe Cleo in the 3 words they would be: obedient, calm and playful (she is a Border Collie after all). Thank you Karhl for all your help! We cannot thank you enough!

Before contacting the K9 Centre (South), I always envied those people walking down the street with their well-behaved dogs trotting calmly next to them. We thought we were destined to be dragged along the foot path by our two excitable shar peis forever.
My husband and I were very skeptical at first. We had been through puppy training, clicker training, numerous harnesses and an endless supply of treats, but nothing had managed to calm our Agro (3 year old male) and Toot (2 year old
female). While we love our furry family, we were sick of our guests being jumped on and scratched, our clothes being ripped, altercations at the dog park and the embarrassment of being walked by our dogs (and not the other way around).
However, after our first session, we noticed an immediate change in our dogs’ behaviour. As the lessons continued, Agro and Toot become calmer, less anxious and easier to control. You have armed us with the skills and knowledge to give our dogs the direction and leadership they were looking for all this time.
I’m excited to report that I can now walk Agro and Toot together, something that I haven’t been able to do since they were puppies. We wish that we had called sooner, but we’re very glad that we did. We’re happier, our dogs are happier – so thank you!
Many thanks,

Thanks for working with our German shepherd puppy Ninja. We took great care to source our puppy for looks, health and temperament. With the same level of care we sourced a trainer. We selected a sample of trainers from across Australia on the internet, checked their qualifications and references and enquired about the methods employed to produce the conditioned responses in the trained doggies. We determined that your methods using "calm pressure" and voice correction were effective and would build a confident response and the outcome would be a puppy that understands the limitations and boundaries and one that responds in a happy motivated way to our voice or hand signal commands.
Now we have Ninja back from her 10 day board and train program we find our 15 week old puppy is even more of a joy as she sits and waits to go through doorways and across roads, automatically sits and walks on a loose lead, comes when called, and drops whatever she has in her mouth at the time at our feet without hesitation or frustration. The real proof is that she does all this with abounding enthusiasm, a waggly tail, a huge smile and a cheeky look in her eye. She has not lost any of her enthusiasm and this new "connection" she has with us is her and our big reward. The result is she "gets it". We have a better understanding and a fuller relationship. She knows when she has done a great job and she knows when she needs to stop and redirect her energy elsewhere.
We love that you are available for regular maintenance sessions and we look forward to our future occasional update sessions as she matures and learns more complex commands.

Firstly, I want to THANKYOU Paul for YOUR patience, knowledge, calm personality and what you do to help others and their beloved dogs.
Let me paint a picture for you about my loving Labrador Lola... she is nearly 3 and was a dog that loved to escape out the front door when we had visitors, she wouldn’t come back after the escape that I had to get in the car and go collect her from someone’s lawn, walks were a nightmare and I remember one day I got to the end of the street.. turned back and dropped her straight home, she was a bull in a free world and I didn’t have the knowledge to help her or ME. She always refused to go outside if I wasn’t going out too, Lola loved to chase the cat up and down the hallway and I could see in her eyes she was a cheeky puppy wanting to push my boundaries and she was finding every single weakness in me.... UNTIL about 6 weeks ago I called PAUL!
Lola did not know what hit her and I swear, no joke, the first session I saw results!!! I was stunned and I could tell Lola was too. All Paul used was a normal collar, a lead and patience and this was the start to a new puppy. Lola now LOVES to go outside and play (even if I don’t), I can open the front door freely and she doesn’t move until I tell her too (every time!) When we do training out the front together she is happy and loves the challenge and guess what... she’s off the lead sometimes! Yes, she gets over excited still and sometimes won’t listen but I know for a fact that’s ME not her. Consistency is the key and I now love coming home and taking her out for training, I still have a lot of training to do but it will come with time.
I have learnt so much from Paul and I hope you all will go that next step and CALL HIM!Chanelle Beere

THANKYOU BLAIR!
I rang the K9 Centre in despair, following a serious dog aggressive incident whereby my 2 year old aussie bulldog, Boaz, attacked my 14 year old sharpai, Rosie-Belle. The attack was so severe that I initially thought I could no longer deal with Boaz’ behaviours, and I would have to consider another home for him.
I was so impressed by the service offered by the K9 Centre. I’d contacted the Brisbane centre and the gentleman there directed my enquiry for help to Blair. Blair promptly contacted me and during this initial phone conversation, put my mind at rest as he explained the possible reasons for Boaz’ behaviour and a course of action to remedy this.
Blair’s understanding of canine behavior is unsurpassable and his firm but kind and respectful manner in handling the dogs and educating the owner is brilliant. I undertook the ‘at home’ training sessions, and with each, my confidence as the handler of my dogs grew and the changed behaviours of the dogs and particularly Boaz’ was remarkable. The training sessions taught me how to be, as I need to be, in order to enjoy the relationship with my dogs and in particular, to feel confident with the 25 kilograms of pure exuberant and previously uncontrollable bulldog.
The changes in the dynamics of our canine family are incredible as they all now get along and actually listen to me. With the changes I needed to make in the handling of Boaz and the ‘pack’ in general, I have gone from stressed to blessed! I thought mine was a hopeless situation but thanks to Blair’s guidance, I am now an empowered dog owner. I sincerely recommend anyone with concerns about their dog’s behaviours or to anyone wanting the best interactions with their dogs to contact Blair. Thank you Blair.

Hi Blair
Sorry for the delayed reply. I have only just gotten organised with registering for the online videos today, and will look at them when I have a chance.
Rufus is going GREAT! Honestly your program was so worth the money & the effort to get him there. Actually I have given your name & contact details to a client of mine who has two large & out of control dogs the same age as Rufus. I do hope he contacts you. His name is Simon ******* & he is from Kingaroy. As he concedes, he has already spent way more than the cost of having his dogs trained with repairing & replacing all they have destroyed!
Anyway, so far Rufus is a changed dog-that is changed for the better :) He is doing everything he should with no problems & only occasionally needs to be reminded when he is being a little TOO affectionate. An unexpected bonus is that instead of slinking off at every chance to sleep on his couch, he will come outside with me & stay there without any direction from me, watching what I am doing or just keeping me company. It is really nice & he is a pleasure to have around.
He even stands back & waits until I put his food down & tell him he can have it. I have to admit I have not yet taken him for an on lead 'walk' into town, but have checked that he can & will still walk on the lead for when I do want to do that. No problem at all with that. I did clip one of his nails & he was OKish with it but it is probably a two person job. I will make sure I work on that so he doesn't slip backwards.
He has also stopped most of his unprovoked barking! He had gotten to the stage that he was barking at shadows before you took him on & it was getting quite annoying. He did go beserk & rightly so when a koala tried to break into the house last week. Seriously! It was surreal, jumping up onto the glass door trying to get in. Even then Toby could calm him down & remove him from the excitement quite easily.
I can not speak of the training program highly enough, and your obvious expertise also. I would not hesitate to recommend the training to anyone who has a dog. In fact I wish it was mandatory for dog ownership. The world would be a much better place with happy, contented & obedient dogs!!
I am watching Rufus' weight & changed to a (almost) raw diet. I won't be buying any more dog biscuits when this packet is finished. I tried to source the meat you use but it is a bit difficult out here, so as a temporary measure I mixed up a heap of meat, offal, eggs, vegetables & marine oil & froze them into patties the size you said he should be eating & he eats it just fine. It is also very convenient for me to just thaw out one at a time & it is so easy to feed him now. I haven't weighed him yet to see how he is going.
Anyway I hope all is going well with you & I'll keep in touch & let you know if I have any problems.
Kind regards
Wendy

I would just like to say thank you from myself and my family on the wonderful work that you have done with Nani over the past couple of months. From an anxious and at times aggressive dog to the relaxed dog that I see today is something that I never thought I would see. I would also like to thank you for the knowledge and the time that you spent with us as dog owner’s teaching us our true responsibilities which has contributed no-end to the improvement in Nani’s behaviour.
Finally, it isn’t often that you engage with a service provider who calls you “the client” after the job on multiple occassions, or who makes himself or herself available after the fact for any questions that may still be out there. Your service is different and I can’t thank you enough for everything.

My husband and I had been talking about getting some dog training for quite some time. We wanted one-on-one training rather than group training but really didn't know where to start looking. Then we heard about K9 Centre on Nova. I called them up and within a couple of hours had a return call from Paul who clearly explained to me they way that K9 Centre carried out there training. We were particularly 'sold' on the "guaranteed results" after the first session. We booked our dogs in and started our training within a couple of weeks. Low and behold, K9 Centre held up their end of the bargain!! We had results after just one hour. We were amazed. Overall, our dogs are calmer and we have a lot more control over them. We used to come back from a walk frustrated but now it is a pleasure and much more relaxing for all four of us. Our trainer, Paul, was not only professional but also very knowledgeable and friendly. We found the whole experience with Paul and K9 Centre fun, rewarding and enjoyable. We would (and have) recommend the K9 Centre to anyone looking for professional and effective dog training.

We have a 10 month old Rottweiler named Ricco, who was starting to think he was the boss of the house. He would not to one thing that I told him to do and was very difficult to control. He would listen to my husband, Peter but this was not good as Peter works away alot.It was a starting to be a bit of a nightmare for me and my 2 daughters who are 10 & 11yrs old.
We also have a 2 1/2 yr old Staffy (Our princess). They get on really well
We rang K9 and within only a couple of hours Karhl had rung us back and organized a time convenient to our busy lives to come and help us.
Karhl has definitely been wonderful to say the least.
He has trained us and Ricco has followed.
Karhl has shown us how to be calm, assertive and in control of Ricco, He has tought us to patient with him, after all he is still a pup learning, which is quite hard to remember when you have this huge dog that is already nearly 50kg and looks like an older dog.
Ricco is coming along really well, we have noticed a huge difference in his behavior since Karhl has been seeing us.With more practice and continued sessions with Ricco he has become easier to handle and is starting to listen to commands. Our girls and myself have much more control.
( We just wont go up the lane way with him. lol)
Karhl has been a savior to us as we had no control of this huge boy.
It has been worth every cent. Karhl has always been available to speak to at anytime. The online videos have also been helpful
The crate has worked a treat. He goes into it to have quite time and is always so relaxed when he is in it.
I was always under the impression that dogs were always trained with treats. K9 trains without any treats which I think is great.
We were definitely the ones that needed the training.
Thank you Karhl for your time patients and sharing your expertise with us.
I would recommend you and have so already without hesitation.

Dear K9
Having owned dogs all our lives we found ourselves a little overwhelmed by our latest addition to the family, a very excitable Doberman who was not very responsive to training. We decided to book both our Doberman and our Beagle into K9.
After our dogs completed the 10 day Board Smart program it was incredible to see the results of your training and the difference in the dog’s behaviour. They returned home calm, controlled and responsive to the commands they were given. Upon handover Karhl spent two hours with us carefully showing us what he had taught the dogs and teaching us how to keep the training ongoing.
Over the next couple of months we met with Karhl once a fortnight for an hour to continue the training. We soon learnt that training dogs was also about training us. Karhl helped to teach us at the same time as training the dogs. Karhl was able to explain the training techniques in a way that made it a pleasure to spend time training our dogs. Kahrls commitment to the dogs and us was nothing short of amazing, he has taught us how to continue the great training that he completed whist the dogs were in his care. We are now able to enjoy time with our dogs without the continual battle to calm them down and follow commands, walking the dogs is now a pleasure not a chore. We can not thank K9 and in particular Karhl enough for what they have achieved for us. I would have no hesitation in recommending K9 to anyone who needs quality training.

My Partner and I called The K9 Centre because we have 2 & 3yr old hyperactive staffies and were getting frustrated with some of the more robust behaviours, such as jumping on guests and pulling on the lead while walking. The contact process was fast and efficient and we had an appointment lined up within half an hour of the call to the centre.
What a difference working with Karhl has made for both our dogs and us! I’m a teacher myself and I have learned a lot about my own behaviour. The immediate results regarding some of the behaviours were amazing. Even though some behaviours (both human and dog) will take some time to improve knowing what to do to get the desired result and seeing the improvement in our dogs’ behaviour has made our lives much better.
Working from home has made the process so much easier and Karhl was very supportive. He was always available to answer any questions outside of the appointment times and was never in a rush to end the sessions. He dealt with our (human) behaviours patiently and effectively and was able to clearly demonstrate to us what we can do to achieve the desired result in our dogs’ behaviour.
I fully recommend Karhl and am very happy we made the choice to contact the K9 centre. If we consider further (advanced) training I will definitely be calling Karhl.

My partner and I had been having issues with our two foxy crosses for a number of years. After being very dilligent in the early stages of our older dogs life with behaviour and consistency, things had slipped considerably and both (the eldest in particular) had settled into some learned behaviour that was rooted in fear aggression. Though they were both vested with a natural exuberance and nervous energy common to foxies, their behaviour had become enough to influence OUR behaviour and choices, who we could be around, where we took them in public. We always had an eye on them when our friends came over, never trusted (the eldest) around children or strangers, and more often than not we'd end up locking her away when people came to our house. We knew we had to do something but after trying many different approaches over the years had become frustrated, and in turn became lax and inconsistent with our training.
We found Paul while looking for a boarder for the dogs (we hadn't been on holiday for 3 years because we couldn't trust them with anyone!) He introduced us to the techniques that we still employ regularly now, in a gradual and straightforward way, that was as much about training us as it was the dogs. We noticed an improvement after the first session and then went on to build on the fundamental principle in the following weeks. Our eldest dog responded so quickly we were astounded (she's 11!) - she went from trying to eat Pauls boot to wagging her tail and walking beside him in the space of about 4 sessions. It didn't hurt that Paul himself is an amiable, easy going guy who knows his training and knows how to communicate it (no dog whispering or puppy xanax here!). He had a genuine affection for our dogs and they for him. We enjoyed our time training with Paul too and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone for any dog behaviour issue - the results speak for themselves.

Hi Karhl
Sam, Dom & I would like to sincerely thank you for all your help with Harry - he has come ahead in leaps and bounds. Please find below a testimonial for your business. Karhl Pickering, the dog trainer from K9 Centre Dog Training has been coming to our home once a week for the past 4 weeks to provide training/rehabilitation for our border collie. His dedication, patience and expertise has turned our once disobedient, hard to manage, over-exuberant dog into a well-behaved calm dog who is now a pleasure to take for a walk and easily controlled.
Karhl charges one initial payment and his philosophy is that he will keep coming as long as it takes to rehabilitate/train the dog and he has certainly lived up to that for us - he is coming again on the weekend just to go back over all the basics with us and our dog. He has provided myself and my two sons with the help we all needed in order for us to become the 'pack leader' to our dog. We now have the confidence to take our dog anywhere knowing we have the skills to control him easily.
Karhl understands dogs so well and is brilliant at what he does so I have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone that needs help with their dog - yoú will be very happy with the results.

We have a little shih tzu-jack russell cross who came into our lives in February 2011, Bensley was 8 months old and totally out of control. We sought help and hired a trainer, didn't work, we then found an on-line training programme that uses clickers and treats and this only made Bensley worse. By this time we were seriously thinking of returning Bensley to the RSPCA but decided to have one more try and by luck we found Paul Andryc a trainer with K9. With just a handful of training sessions plus on-line and phone help Paul turned Bensley around, Paul's technique is professional and very successful. If you need and want the best canine trainer just go to Paul and you will achieved the results you are looking for. Paul is a gentle, sincere, knowledgeable, young man. I am 67 and retired in December 2010. I bought a dog from a S.A. trainer who told me Nando was 2cm too tall. I met her in Melbourne where she was attending a show and took Nando, he was a beautiful dog, quiet, wary and beautiful. I put him in the car and he looked at me and I looked at him and he was so confused but trusting.
I hadn’t had a dog since 1978 and always promised myself that when I retired I would get one. Why I chose a 40 kilo German Shepherd is a mystery but I did and it was obvious I needed help.
I enrolled in a training course, recommended to me, and I went along on dark evening in April to a showground. There were 12 – 14 dogs in the Beginners and Nando was the best looking and the largest dog. Everyone there had obviously been to puppy class and Nando and I were completely lost, or I should say I was lost! It was the most demoralising experience; I could not hear the trainer, could not readily get the hand signals for sit, stay, down, etc.
We came home and I told my family we had flunked class! The trainer just said to stay behind and his only comment to me was that the dog was too big for me!
That made me feel, very special, not. I was already feeling as though I had taken on too much! This poor dog was looking to me for direction and I had none.
Luckily for me, I had been also referred to Paul Andryc, K9 centre, Dog Training by the same person but I chose the wrong one.....it happens!
I came back to Brisbane on March 13th, after my first lesson with Paul. April 29th, I could see that training this dog was the key. I was the one who needed training. I had always had dogs but I could see that this amazing dog needed direction and I also acknowledged that I did not have a clue as to how to do that.
Firstly Paul reinstated my confidence and anxiety by telling me that I was not too old and I was not too small to handle Nando. Our first lesson went really well, Nando growling at Paul, being timid and as Paul said, lots of fear aggression! OK! We had some problems to overcome. It appeared that Nando was terrified of males, and a male trying to teach him how to behave was something Nando was very wary of.
I enrolled in the HomeSmart Program and now after completing the course have the tools needed to control Nando. No treats, no loud voices, no rebukes, no abuse needed. It worked and I was so inspired to get up in the morning and do the training because the reward it brings is worth more than the cost of the program.
Paul tells you like it is and I really appreciate that, he is not condescending, patronising, just says it is like it is and if it is the owner, (which I suspect it usually is), he handles that really well. May I say at this point, I am not an academic or do I like being told what to do! My family to attest to this but I have to say when it comes to a huge animal that is under your control, it is vitally important to take it seriously. I take on board everything Paul tells me and I have to believe what he says is true, he is the expert and I have proven with Nando that everything Paul advises; plays out with Nando.
I cannot emphasise enough how life is made easier with training for a dog. One of the things I remember is that Paul told me, if the dog knows what I want, he FEELS SAFE! Crossed messages, such as kisses, praise when it is not deserved, is very hard to remember but it is important for the dog to know what you are on about! Really important.
Thank you Paul!
After Nando and I progress to complete understanding, we will be back for advanced training.

We recently moved from a property that had 1 quiet dog as a neighbour, to 4 small persistent barking dogs as neighbours. Unfortunately this new environment did not go down well with our 2yr 69kg Bullmastiff – Boss!
The Fence
The effect on Boss was instant! The aggression he displayed when these dogs were barking on our fence line, was something we had never witnessed, it was upsetting and scary, for me and the children. My main concern was, this could ignite at any time and I had absolutely no control.
The Walk
My husband works away 5wks and only home 7 days plus we recently moved from NZ, so I had no family or friends to watch the children, 2yr, 4yr, 6yr, 9yr. To say walking Boss with a Pram & 4 Kids was a “Mission”, is an understatement! I must say, being 5 foot nothing and choosing a breed of dog that weighs 10kg more then me, certainly wasn’t one of my wisest choices and Lord help us, if we were ever “unlucky” enough to encounter another dog, all hell would break loose. Even a shot of Vodka couldn’t ease the mental or physical strain, some days I didn’t know if I was “God” for getting through these walks or just plain, “Stupid”!
The Play
Boss’s idea of play was to run around like crazy, full throttle! The problem was that on the “home straight”, it was always a game of “cat & mouse”, you could never tell if he was going to STOP and most times….he didn’t!
The Meeting
Even before confirming an appointment, Al would phone to check how I was coping. On meeting Al, my husband and I were so impressed with the Knowledge, Techniques, Advice and ongoing support. It was such a relief to finally have answers and the tools to work with and understand Boss.
On following Al’s advice, Boss is now rarely agitated at the neighbours dogs and he will come away from the fence on my command. My knee’s no longer knock when Boss decides to run towards me, he now stops on my command, truly a miracle! And I am Proud to say that I now HAVE and CAN control my very large & heavy dog, when out in Public.
Al-the Trainer
Al is more then a Dog Trainer, he is unique!
Al took the time to listen and understand the dynamics of our family, he made learning easy and solutions workable, he either worked around the children or he included them. His Guidance, Support and Especially his Patients, has truly been a life saver. Due to suffering from depression, each day has it’s challenges but after experiencing a dog bite, my confidence went into a downward spiral. Unbeknown to Al, he has not only helped me regain my confidence as a Dog Owner, but as an individual and as a parent. Al has played a major role in keeping our family unit together and for that, we are all very grateful…..thank-you Al…..

Bear is a 11 month old German Shepherd who is very clever and full of life. I was finding him very hard to train and to get to behave on command. After spending a little bit of time researching ways to train my dog I came across the K9 Centre Australia website and found the Boardsmart Program where I could board my dog and have him trained at the same time.
Bear is the usual German Shepherd puppy, full of life and always wanting to play. He was a nightmare to take for a walk because he would pull on the lead the entire way and when another dog came past he would bark and bark until it was out of his sight. Im not a big girl and was afraid to take him for a walk incase he saw something and decided to take off. Bear is close to 45kg and with me not much heavier than him I was afraid of being pulled over.
That wasn't all of Bear's problems, he would also jump up on people when they first went out to see him. In the end friends and family would not go outside to say hello because they didn't want to get balled over.
After getting in contact with Alan from the K9 Centre I decided that it would be a good idea to send Bear to him to get some help. I recently went away for work and decided that the best thing for me to do with Bear was to send him to Alan to have him boarded and trained at the same time.
After having Bear with Alan for 10 days I returned to pick him up and saw a completely different dog. I was amazed with the work Alan had done to calm Bear. Alan spent a few hours with me before I took Bear home and went through all of the training he had done and ways for me to continue the training at home to make sure Bear would continue to develop. Alan also informed me that if I had any problems or concerns I could give him a call or an email and he would help me out so that my pup would remain on track.
I have had Bear home for a little bit now and I as well as friends and family can see the change in him. He is still a very energetic dog with lots of life but will sit, drop and stay as well as be corrected with verbal commands. Bear will also walk on the lead at heel without tugging an pulling and is corrected with the 'AHHH' command if he starts to pull. It is still a work in progress with Bear but with help by Alan I'm sure I'm well on my way to having a well behaved dog.
I would recommend Alan and the K9 Centre to anyone who has trouble training their dog. The methods they use are brilliant and safe and work as I can see from experience with Bear.
I would like to say a massive thank you to Alan. You have done such wonderful work with my pup and I hope I do you proud by not slipping up and continuing to progress with my dog.
Thank you very much I am very appreciative of you.

My Labrador pup Jadie has been undertaking the K9 Centre PuppySmart Program on the Sunshine Coast since she was 3 months old. After just 4 lessons she is doing remarkably well and has already mastered the basic commands sit, stay, drop and come. The K9 Centre training provides the foundation skills for dogs and their owners using gentle, respectful and effective methods which make training fun. The one on one lessons, friendly follow ups and access to online materials means that help and advice is always available.
Thanks Blair and the K9 Centre, Jadie and I are looking forward to the 10 day intensive training at 6 months!

Dear Blair,
We would just like to thank you for all the help you have given us with our 12 month old German Shepherd Bear. Before we started the HomeSmart training Bear was a highly strung dog that we were unable to socialize. We believed that we had lost control over his actions. From the first lesson we started to notice change and it became clear that we were regaining control over Bear and he seemed less stressed all the time. Since finishing the training we have had the confidence to take bear more places such as the beach where he can be around other dogs and people. We have also noticed a great difference in his behaviour at home. We know we still have a way to go but believe that with the techniques and training knowledge you passed on to us we will achieve our goal. We would highly recommend your services to anyone needed assistance.

Hi Blair,
Just an update on how we are going.
Maisy is fantastic! She really is a changed dog. Yesterday we had a break through with the postman, for the first time she never barked or even got off her bed. She sits and stays without the lead and is generally a calmer dog all round. It was a pleasure yesterday to go out in the garden without her trying to attach everything – she just greeted me as I came out and sat there until I asked her to come.
Thanks again.
Warm regards from a happy dog owner.

Hi Blair,
This is just a note to thank you most sincerely for the wonderful training you gave Luther (Doberman) and Bart (Beagle). The professional way you treated us and the care you gave our precious dogs was amazing. They came home happy, healthy and much easier to handle.
Blair was always available to speak to and never complained about anxious owners phoning him at any hour of the day or night. We have no hesitation recommending him to any other dog owners. Your pets will be treated with kindness and respect. Blair is our own Australian “Dog Whisperer” and is the answer to any dog behavioural problems.
Don’t hesitate to call this man if you have canine control problems. He will care for your dog and train it with compassion and kindness and train you the owner how to handle your dog the correct way.

We acquired our puppy just before Christmas last year and by New Year’s Day she had caused so much mayhem we were ready to give her back.
Thankfully, the K9 Centre Dog Trainers came to our rescue! Paul Andryc, the trainer, was able, in the space of 3 weeks in his Puppy Smart Program, to teach us how to turn our “urban terrorist” into a bundle of joy.
Paul was calm and confident in his handling of the classes. His classes were very much “hands on” - we worked with our dogs under his careful instruction. Paul took care to give us ample opportunity to ask questions and was always positive and encouraging in his interaction with the dog owners as well as the dogs.
Prior to attending puppy classes I was acutely aware of my ignorance yet Paul was able to allay my fears and his willingness to provide follow up assistance over the phone or internet increased my confidence in his strategies for management of my dog.

We really believed that our mountain of a dog 'Kingston' (Bullmastiff X Doberman – 5 years old) was a lost cause.
After trying various hard and soft approaches to obedience training over the years, we had essentially resided to the fact that after being declared dangerous our dog was just never going to change and that his behaviour was set in stone. We are so glad that we contacted 'The K9 Centre' – In such a short period of time, we have had the most remarkable results. Kingston is now an absolute pleasure to deal with, and is more responsive than ever thought possible. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Thank you to Paul and 'The K9 Centre' for helping us to achieve what we thought was impossible.

Private: Aggressive Gypsy
When I first contacted the K9 Centre about HOMESMART in home dog training for my then 8 month old miniature fox terrier puppy, I wasn’t sure if her aggression could be cured. When she was about 5 months old I had a fall and she ran away, she was found and brought back to the house by a man, and there were two male paramedics attending to me, and then took me away. Since then Gypsy showed aggression towards anyone new coming to the house, especially males.
Paul showed up to our first training session and Gypsy nearly launched herself off the top step to try to get to him and displayed very aggressive behaviour. Within 20 minutes, with Paul giving us guidance, we had managed to calm her down and have her sit next to us without excessive aggression. I also have a physical disability, which I thought would make training difficult as some things I cannot do, however, Paul adapted the technique to suit me.
Within the next four sessions Gypsy showed less aggression and was responding to other training Paul had taught us, she is getting much better when new people come to the house. At the second last session Gypsy was playing and rolling over for belly scratches from Paul and we were able to let her run around without aggressive behaviour.
Gypsy has improved out of sight since my decision to contact the K9 Centre for her. I cannot recommend their services highly enough. Thank you so much Paul for your training expertise and knowing that I can call at any time in between sessions if I am unsure how to handle a situation.
Thankyou Amy Moore

We have 2 dogs, Dougie a Kelpie and Boots a Kelpie x Border Collie. I can't speak highly enough about Paul & The K9Centre BoardSmart program.
WHEN.... we had ran out of options and ideas with what to do with these two, we called The K9 Centre! Dougie, brilliant dog the brains out the two, if he could escape he would, he wouldn't walk with me or anything. Boots well...... what can say this boy was just wild, jumping, barking, running, so hypoactive he was driving me mad! I used to have to walk these 2 together on my own with a baby in a pram!! Need I say more it was terrible, embarrassing and a job I dreaded. Paul at The K9 Centre came to my rescue! After calling over to the house to pick up the dogs for the K9 BoardSmart program, within 2mins of being there with Boots he had stopped him from jumping up and had him sitting! I wasn't sure if I'd ever seen Boots sit before. I knew then I had made the right choice. Since Paul has brought them back home, its' a pleasure being with them, I can walk them by my side, they don't jump and they are so calm, just what we wanted in a dog! We stick to the training and it works. Thank you so much Paul for your help!!!!!
Many Thanks

Hi Paul,
Thanks so much for helping me with my dog's ( Nancy ) problems.
I was at my wit's end, and in desperation, went searching on the internet one afternoon and came across your site. I saw it was a Brisbane company so thought I would give you a call.
After talking with you on the phone,at length, about Nancy's various problems, we decided to go ahead with your programme.
Within minutes of you taking control of Nancy, only using the calming technique, she was a calm dog. Wayne and I were totally amazed!
She has become a different dog with the simple techniques that you have taught us. All of our friends and relatives are commenting on the difference already.
It has also given me the confidence to tackle all of her many problems with hope, that sometime soon, we will have a beautiful dog.
I highly recommend this company (and especially Paul) , for helping anyone with Dog behavioural problems.
RegardsRobyn & Wayne McCosh.

Gemma the GSD after Dog Training
I made contact with Paul from K9 Centre Australia after hearing of a program
that you could board your dog for 2 weeks and have it trained at the same time.
We were at our wits end with our 12 month old German Sheppard called Gemma.
We were at the stage where we couldn’t handle the dog and our family were
starting be scared of her. We were thinking we should find her a new home.
Gemma is a hi energy dog who just wants to play all the time. The issue
with that was she was big and was starting to boss the kids around by
jumping on them. Mouthing their arms, starting to stop the kids walking
away from her and pulling them to play with her. She would also jump on
people when she first met them. We found this cute when she was a puppy but
she was 30 kgs and could really knock you down if she caught us off guard.
This wasn’t the only problem, she is dog aggressive. When she was a puppy
we were walking her and 3 little white fluffy dogs attacked her and one of
them bit her on the back leg breaking the skin. After that she would go
crazy out of fear at any dog she saw, it was scary. I’m a big guy (about 95
kgs) and I had to fight a lot to keep her under control.
Anyway this meant we were confined to our house with the dog and the kids
didn’t want to play with her.
We had “dog listeners” come to our house to assist with Gemma and they spoke
about standing tall and gesture feeding to show the dog who was boss. Lets
just say we didn’t have much luck with that and if anything it drove the dog
crazy with us taunting it with food.
Paul came to our house about 3 months ago and listened to our concerns. He
spent a little bit of time with Gemma and told us that she was a good dog
and he knew how to calm her down, as long as we followed his techniques. He
recommended that we didn’t send the dog away to be trained and showed us a
technique called Calm Pressure. It is very simple and involves using a lead
to teach the dog to be in a calm state. We also use our dog crate to create
a safe haven for the dog to chill out in which she loves. He showed us (Me,
my wife and 3 kids) how to do this and it is very simple. We have been using
this technique and we couldn’t be happier with the results. It wasn’t a one
visit deal where you’re given a few tips, hand over your money and they’re
gone. Paul and I regularly discuss how Gemma is going and he has organised
time to catch up and check on how we are progressing. Paul is more than
happy to take calls when you need extra support and provide advice, he
genuinely cares about how things are going.
We recently had a family vacation and we needed to kennel Gemma, we decided
to board Gemma with Paul so he could train her while we were on vacation.
She came back a different dog.
So does it work? Yes, absolutely. It’s been 3 months and my dog has gone
from a high energy nut bag to a dog that still has a lot of energy but will
sit, drop, stay, come and be corrected all by verbal commands. This means
she plays when we say she can and she doesn’t intimidate anyone. If she
over steps the mark its a quick ‘Ahh!’ followed by a drop and stay. The dog
responds and calms down. Then the play can start again.
We are still working with Paul on the dog aggression and have made good
progress. On Paul’s last visit Gemma was able to play with his dog ‘Slam’.
It was the first time we have seen Gemma do this I can’t describe how
excited we were for this to happen. The Dog aggression will take some time
to resolve but with Paul’s help and support we’re sure we will get there.
Here is Gemma on news years eve, she was calm enough to wear the hat.

Dear Alan,
We are writing to thank you once again for the training you provided to Indi and ourselves as owners. She has drastically changed her ways to our surprise. We had tried so many different trainers and techniques recommended to us and you were our last resort for her as we thought she would never change. She is such a pleasure to walk now and is improving everyday with the simple and short training you showed us. Her aggression to other dogs has decreased and she is no longer an embarrassment to walk in public. Thank you so much. We will without thought recommend you to others. Look forward to following up with you soon.

Hi Alan,
We just wanted to say thank you again for the massive improvement in Tash's obedience after spedning 10 days with you; and of course the extra time you spent with us teaching us how to continue on with both Tash and Bob. Tash no longer jumps up whenever she sees us, she no longer jumps on my car when I come home, she has gone from a hyperactive attention seeking nuisance (who we did still love) to a calm, attentive 1 yr old German Shepherd who is a pleasure to be around. It is now also no longer a chore to take both Bob and Tash for walks, they both heel nicely on the lead instead of trying to have play fights with each other, pulling and tugging and generally being very annoying. We really appreciate the time and effort you put in with both of them!
Thanks again,

Hi Paul
Rebecca and Tim Kenmore.
I would just like to say thank you so much for all your help and support with Cleo. As you know we got Cleo from the rspca at nine months old. She had major anxiety issues which stopped her eating and she destroyed the house when I left her. The vet suggested putting her on medication to calm her down but fortunately I listen to you and avoided that route. I followed your advice and within just over a week she is a lot calmer and crate trained. What I love is the fact you are always on the other end of the phone if things are getting hard. Still working with her and I am looking forward to moving onto obedience classes with you in a month. Thanks again. Rebecca and Tim Kenmore.

After purchasing an 8 week old Dogue de Bordeaux puppy, knowing that he would become a very large dog we decided to do the right thing and have him trained. Having not been convinced nor impressed by the purely food/treat reward based training shown to us at puppy preschool, it was an absolute delight to be shown the results and effectiveness of the confidence based training employed by Martin at the K9 Centre.
Our experience at the K9 Centre has been fantastic. As a first time dog owners we have been more than happy with the progress Merlot has made ( and the progress we have made as owners). Merlot is becoming a well behaved, well balanced and confident dog.
The basic foundations we learnt in the first lessons have been so valuable, and now the other steps make so much sense as we progress through the training.
What has impressed me is the individualisation of the training. We are not simply a number in a group of faces. K9 Centre's one on one lessons allows us to express our concerns and address our problems with Martin therefore ensuring the maximum benefit from our training session with Merlot.
Martin's experience and knowledge is fantastic and are only matched by his enthusiasm to pass this knowledge onto his clients.
His ability to understand and overcome the obstacles we have experienced regarding the training has been phenomenal. He has made himself available to our phone calls and emails without ever making us feel like it was too trivial a matter to disturb him. He is always more than happy to answer our questions, alleviate our concerns, whilst explaining the reason behind the training methods.
Martins training methods, effectiveness, professionalism and love of dogs, means that I would have no hesitation in recommending K9 Centre to any dog owner who wished to have a great companion.

Hi, My name is Tania and I am the owner of two Rottweilers, Jake who is now 10 years old and Diego who is 18 months old. I have been training with the K9 Centre since February 2004.
I found the services of the K9 Centre through the internet and was quiet impresses with what he had to say when I got in touch with them about training Diego. Jake has had some professional training before and I was interested in trying a different method, it seems that Jake is being re-educated in a sense and he is responding well to The K9 Centres way of dog training.
Since Diego has started training we have gone from doing a full range of obedience to protection work and now we are working on tracking, Diego has a long way to go and I have all intentions of staying with the K9 Centre
Although I have a small amount of experience in training dogs, The Trainers at the K9 Centre have shown me a whole new path to ways of training my dogs and I am extremely pleased with the results. It is quiet pleasing to find a dog trainer that does not use food as the only way to train dogs

I thought I should give you some feedback on Sasha since it's been a couple of weeks now. Since visiting you she's been great! She's almost perfect on walks and doesn't pull at all. I've been doing walking most nights and doing some training with Sash and another German shepherd (from down the road) and she loves it! She gets so excited when I get out the equipment, she sits in front of me as soon as she hears the jingle. She still has a fair way to go but she is 150% better than she was. She's even better at home, the neighbours don't hate her as much anymore. Thanks heaps for all your help, your advice was practical, straight forward and totally effective. It's opened up huge potential in Sasha, its up to me now to help her realise it.
Thanks Again

We thought we would take this opportunity to tell you how Sasha is going. Last you would have heard, she was at the digging stage. Since she turned 2 years old, she has changed dramatically. No more digging, taking clothes off the line, destroying plants... Sasha matured overnight almost. We thought all the training we did with you was not working, then all of a sudden she responded. She comes to us when we call, even if we are at the dog park and she is playing, (this was a big problem at one stage, she would run off and ignore us). She responds very well to the "argh" command, with or without her collar on. We would like to thank you for all your help over the past two years.
You have helped us to make Sasha a well natured, beautiful dog. She is wonderful company and is very protective of Liz..

Awesome :) Thank you to the K9 Centre… I really enjoyed my training!
Hi Karhl … below is some feedback and a photo of muttley for the website. Thanks : )
Before contacting the K9 Centre (South), I always envied those people walking down the street with their well-behaved dogs trotting calmly next to them. We thought we were destined to be dragged along the foot path by our two excitable shar peis forever.
Firstly, I want to THANKYOU Paul for YOUR patience, knowledge, calm personality and what you do to help others and their beloved dogs.
