Paul we want to thank-you for taking away our naughty, bad tempered, and ill mannered Shih Tzu x Maltese and in two weeks returning a pleasant lovable little boy.
Toby is only 15 months old and from the day we had him from 10 weeks of age he certainly had personality plus, but unfortunately over time developed into the wrong type of personality.
When it came time for the vet visit and his 12 monthly needles I was advised to consider seriously having Toby put to sleep due to his terrible behaviour (biting, growling and basically unacceptable behaviour). His performance at the vet was one of the most traumatic periods of his short life. We knew something had to be done. My mother is 86 years old and lives with me. My concern was growing due to her and my granddaughter when she visited.
I have always had German Shepherds and Labrador’s and couldn’t believe how one so small dog could wreak such havoc with our lives. I just couldn’t train him and my patience had come to an end with Toby. With some help from another local vet who also experienced Toby at his worst but did manage to give him his needles and me some brochures which directed me to contact Paul from the K9Centre.
Paul returned my call and sent me out e-mails with all the information I required plus a choice of training schedules. This was also a very difficult decision to make regarding contacting Paul as I didn’t think any dog trainer would take on a little dog for training. This proved to be the best decision i could ever make for Toby and us. Paul came and spent some time with Toby in our house then took him away for 14 days of training. ( Due to me working fairly long hours all week it was easier to send Toby away for training rather than an hour here and there).
On day 14, Toby and Paul arrived at the front door and we had over an hour with Paul at the house going through Toby’s training. After 2 weeks of being home and us continuing his training program, Paul returned to see how we were progressing and spent over an hour with us again.
Today we have the lovable little dog we originally bought 16 months ago. He is a joy to have around and we have many laughs instead of yelling and cross times with him. I would recommend Paul from The K9 Centre to anybody with a dog who is unsociable or has behavioural problems no matter how big or how small the dog. It wasn’t just a matter of training Toby but educating us to continue on with Toby’s training so he is secure in his human environment and we are the leaders again.
A big Thank-you Paul from Toby, Norma and Sheryl.

We have 2 dogs, Dougie a Kelpie and Boots a Kelpie x Border Collie. I can’t speak highly enough about Paul & The K9Centre BoardSmart program.
WHEN…. we had ran out of options and ideas with what to do with these two, we called The K9 Centre! Dougie, brilliant dog the brains out the two, if he could escape he would, he wouldn’t walk with me or anything. Boots well…… what can say this boy was just wild, jumping, barking, running, so hypoactive he was driving me mad! I used to have to walk these 2 together on my own with a baby in a pram!! Need I say more it was terrible, embarrassing and a job I dreaded. Paul at The K9 Centre came to my rescue! After calling over to the house to pick up the dogs for the K9 BoardSmart program, within 2mins of being there with Boots he had stopped him from jumping up and had him sitting! I wasn’t sure if I’d ever seen Boots sit before. I knew then I had made the right choice. Since Paul has brought them back home, its’ a pleasure being with them, I can walk them by my side, they don’t jump and they are so calm, just what we wanted in a dog! We stick to the training and it works. Thank you so much Paul for your help!!!!!
Many Thanks
Laura
Dear Alan
It is almost a fortnight since we collected Tilda after her three weeks in the K9 BoardSmart Program with you at Guanaba.
On the day we picked her up, Colin and I were pleased and surprised at how well Tilda had progressed during her time with you.
She was very reliable with her sit, down and stay commands and that continues. She walked on the lead without pulling and that also continues with me. Most impressively, she is now much less susceptible to the lure of moving cars and trucks. Whilst I have not mastered the use of the New Zealand dog whistle the way you can do it, Alan, she comes when called.
She also seems more willing to stay home. She enjoys her games and joins with our older kelpie in ball fetching sessions. Tilda attends to either the tennis ball or the rubber ball but Ozzie only brings back the rubber ball, so the sessions usually work quite well!
Now after two weeks, we can have visitors without their being in danger of being knocked down in an enthusiastic greeting from Tilda.
All in all, the goals we set for Tilda in the BoardSmart Program were met and we have learnt from you how to build on the platform of training that you laid down for her. Bearing in mind she is only six months old, she still has some way to go and we look forward to working with her using the training suggestions and ideas you gave us, as well as those available on the website. I have looked at some of these and believe they will be helpful to us in Tilda’s future training.
Thank you very much, Alan. As a result of your work we have a much more obedient dog. She retains her confidence and her innate “kelpie” nature and because she is more compliant, she is finding her proper place in our household. She is not perfect yet, but your assistance in getting her to this point is very much appreciated.
Please feel free to use all or part of this note as a testimonial.
Regards and Season’s Greetings to you and your family

Hi Alan,
We just wanted to say thank you again for the massive improvement in Tash’s obedience after spending 10 days with you; and of course the extra time you spent with us teaching us how to continue on with both Tash and Bob. Tash no longer jumps up whenever she sees us, she no longer jumps on my car when I come home, she has gone from a hyperactive attention seeking nuisance (who we did still love) to a calm, attentive 1 yr old German Shepherd who is a pleasure to be around. It is now also no longer a chore to take both Bob and Tash for walks, they both heel nicely on the lead instead of trying to have play fights with each other, pulling and tugging and generally being very annoying. We really appreciate the time and effort you put in with both of them!
Thanks again,
Nesha and Charles
