My husband and I adopted an 8 year old staffy cross bull terrier from the pound in March 2011. He was a lovely dog, however he needed some help when it came to going on walks and listening at the dog park (caused from
abuse growing up). We also have a Jack Russell for a few months as we are doggy sitting and he was in need of some training as well. We thought it would be best to have The K9 Centre do the home training with us. We decided on this so that we could learn how to do the training when the sessions were over and have the confidence in our training abilities.
Right from the beginning we appreciated The K9 Centre’s form of training, without treats as the Jack Russell needed to lose some weight! During the weeks of training we learned how it was more about training us first and then the dogs. We were able to use the techniques K9 had taught us to assist the dogs in wanting to obey us, listening to us, and responding to us.
Their trainers are very friendly and patient dog trainers. We found that the lessons were practical, fun and encouraging. The dogs responded well to him and he was most helpful by calling to see how the training was going between lessons.
During the lessons they used their dogs to assist with training and he had many other tools with him to make the training more effective. He also told us that we could call him if we had any further questions once our training was finished.
We have had many people comment on how much both of the dogs have changed in their behaviour and how well they listen. We would definitely recommend The K9 Centre to anyone, as we can now take the dogs for afternoon walks instead of them walking us! Plus, we now have this training knowledge to use in the future as we would love to have more dogs around!
